Black turnip – a much underestimated vegetable
Black turnip,or black radish, is a vegetable which is not very popular in our country. This is a pity. It has many culinary virtues, and most importantly – it contains a wide range of nutrients and antioxidants, is helpful in fighting various ailments, it also promotes our beauty – it cares for and regenerates the skin, hair and scalp.
Extremely valuable, used in some diseases and a decline in immunity is turnip juice, which can be squeezed using a juicer or squeezer or buy ready in the shop with organic products.
There is good reason why the term ‘healthy as a turnip’ is sometimes used. Among other vegetables, black turnip greens are distinguished by their intense, robust, relatively sharp taste and firm texture. This taste is the result of the presence in the flesh of mustard glycosides containing, among other things, valuable sulfur compounds, very useful in the cosmetics industry.
It would seem that due to this specific flavor turnip has no particular culinary value. Nothing could be further from the truth, only seemingly this vegetable is narrowly used in the kitchen. In fact, it carries with it many possibilities for use.
It can be added to a variety of salads and salads, cottage cheese, pastes, snacks, stuffings, toasts, sandwiches, soups, sauces, vegetable one-pot dishes. It can be boiled, baked, fried and stewed. You can also use it in blender smoothies.
