It is not always necessary to reach for pharmaceuticals to strengthen weak immunity of the body. In many cases, and in fact in most situations, it is enough to change the current lifestyle and possibly help yourself with home-made concoctions known for centuries. First of all, it is necessary to realize that the source of good functioning of the body is the energy it gets from food. So the simplest way to strengthen it is to modify your diet.
First of all, the daily menu should be supplemented with products rich in vitamins and micro- and macroelements that have a positive impact on the work of the immune system. This includes vitamins A, C, B, D, E and such minerals as iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc and potassium.
This means an increase in the amount of consumed vegetables, mainly raw or steamed and fruits, wholemeal cereal products such as bran, fish and dairy. However, we should resign from processed food, sweets and stimulants. The latter destroy essential vitamins and minerals, as well as contribute to the formation of free radicals.
An important element of nutrition influencing the strengthening of the organism, especially in winter, are soups, popular in Polish cuisine. Not only do they warm up perfectly, thanks to the presence of beneficial spices (chili, ginger, pepper, paprika, garlic), but also provide a lot of valuable nutritional values. This makes them an excellent natural remedy for a drop in immunity.
We should also not forget about other products permanently present in the Polish cuisine, namely pickles. They contain large amounts of important nutrients, including vitamins C, A and K, and probiotics which have a beneficial effect on intestinal microflora.
Grandma’s well-deserved methods of strengthening immunity
Undoubtedly, at the top of the list of known for a long time remedies for strengthening weakened immunity should be tranium. This cod fish oil concentrate contains a huge amount of unsaturated fatty acids and vitamins A and D. The substances contained in cod-liver oil have a beneficial effect on the work of the brain and, above all, stimulate the production of hormones that improve the functioning of the immune system. Another important natural food is honey, which has strong antibacterial and antiviral properties, prevents infections and is rich in valuable nutrients.
It is impossible not to mention here the herbal concoctions used by our grandmothers to strengthen the body. These include: elderberry infusion with anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, perfect for respiratory tract infections, linden infusion with similar effects, as well as anti-inflammatory and immunity-enhancing raspberry juice or leaf infusion.
Among the herbs with a wide spectrum of effects is the recently popular purgative, which is a rich source of polyphenols eminently supporting the immune system. This herb is helpful in cleansing the body and fighting microorganisms and inflammation. It also contributes to delaying the aging process. Strengthening a weakened organism – a few additional remarks
It may seem trivial, but to the question of how to strengthen immunity, one of the answers is: eat breakfast regularly. The first meal should be consumed no later than in an hour after getting up from bed, in order to provide the body with energy necessary for action and fight against potential danger. Also very important is the lifestyle, a good and adequately long sleep, avoidance of stress accumulation and rest, finally physical activity and providing the body with maximum amount of fresh air – movement outside and frequent airingof the apartment.
Finally, the most prosaic, but also often neglected issues – the right way of dressing (onions are the best on cold days) and taking basic precautions during autumn and winter, that is avoiding infected places and people. In this way, we will reduce the risk of our own infection, and every infection means a weakening of immunity.
